ABOUT

Donisthorpe Community Interest Company has been established to acquire unregistered land, Church Street, Donisthorpe to provide a community space for the residents. Our investigations have led us to believe that this land was donated to miners and residents of the village along with the miners welfare. We feel that it is important to incorporate the history of our village in our design of the land and we are looking at the idea of some kind of mining memorial as mining was such a huge part of village life. We would like feedback from you as you were miners or from mining families. We have been approached by an ex miner from Donisthorpe who has proposed a design similar to the memorial in Dinnington ( photos attached).Dinnington, has a memorial wall where there are individual tiles to take the names of miners who worked at the colliery. Please let us know your thoughts.

This idea has been given to ODA Memorial Gardens, Church Street as we thought it would be a better setting
